Special Session: Potential for Geologic Sequestration of CO₂ in Deep, Low-Permeability Coal Seams
Tuesday, 13 June 2023, 10:45 a.m.–12:05 p.m. | Denver, Colorado
Course Content
In this session, the results of a field pilot demonstration of CO₂ injection in deep coal are provided. The pilot represents a collaborative effort between the operator (Cvictus) and University of Calgary and Pennsylvania State University researchers. A rich pre-CO₂ and CO₂ injection dataset was collected, with valuable information gathered to evaluate deep coal seam sequestration potential. Innovative field- and laboratory-scale testing methods were applied, and their review will be the focus of this session.
