Course Content

Panelists discuss how they now approach risk assessment and opportunity evaluation after the dramatic changes due to economic stresses (crises) and a global pandemic. The value of the technology can be discussed which is cost savings, performance improvement and ESG components.

Rusty Gilbert, Gilbert Energy

Raoul LeBlanc,IHS Markit

Mr. LeBlanc's passion lies in the intersection of oil and gas expertise and leading-edge data analytics. He currently leads the development and commercialization of data products that leverage knowledge to make the IHS Markit well and production database insightful for commercial decision makers. Mr. LeBlanc also plays a key role in directing research and forecasting of onshore North America and then delivering an integrated, substantive story to executives and investors.

As a veteran of the industry and a former partner at PFC Energy (now IHS Markit), Mr. LeBlanc brings 25 years of experience in strategic and industry analysis. Familiar with a wide range of corporate and market issues, he has extensive experience on issues related to North American independents, upstream assets, and natural gas markets. From 1997 to 2006, Mr. LeBlanc directed Anadarko Petroleum's strategic planning effort, responsible for strategy formulation, portfolio optimization, scenario planning, and competitor analysis.

He has worked and studied in Japan, the western Pacific, and Great Britain. Mr. LeBlanc holds an undergraduate degree from Georgetown University and a Master of Arts in energy and international relations from The Johns Hopkins University School of Advanced International Studies, United States.

Jim Grant, Vice President - Subsurface, Chesapeake

Jim Grant serves as Chesapeake Energy Corporation’s Vice President of Subsurface and is responsible for leading geoscience and reservoir engineering across the company’s portfolio. Mr. Grant joined Chesapeake in 2017, and helped transform the company’s subsurface team, centering its culture around commercially focused decision-making rooted in technical excellence and interdisciplinary collaboration. Mr. Grant has served in various leadership, corporate and technical roles throughout his career at Chesapeake and Anadarko, where he worked prior to joining Chesapeake.

Mr. Grant’s background spans the E&P value chain from new ventures to development. His past positions include Director of Exploration and Geoscience Technology; Exploration Manager roles spanning the South Atlantic Margin and the Asia Pacific region; and various technical roles in development and exploration. Corporate roles included Worldwide Exploration Planning Manager and Director of Investor Relations.

Mr. Grant holds a BA in geology from Hamilton College, a MS in geology from the University of Idaho and an MBA from Rice University, where he was a Jones Scholar Award recipient.

Pushpesh Sharma, Aspentech

Pushpesh is Sr. Product Manager at Aspentech responsible for HYSYS Petroleum Refining. After finishing his PhD in Chemical Engineering, he worked with Inveniam Asset Management developing data driven solutions for the energy industry. In his current role he is working on enabling the energy industry in digital transformation and energy transition. He is also Vice Chair for SPE GCS Data Analytics Study Group. Pushpesh was also selected as the SPE TWA Energy Influencer in 2020.

Nishant Jah, Director – Well Production Systems, Schlumberger

Nishant Jah has two decades of upstream oilfield experience in positions ranging for field operations, service delivery and operations management, business development and strategy. His experience also includes managing high calibre multinational teams and clients.
