Occidental’s Path to Carbon Neutrality 

Vicki Hollub is President and Chief Executive Officer of Occidental. She has been a member of Occidental’s Board of Directors since 2015. During her 35-year career with Occidental, Ms. Hollub has held a variety of management and technical positions with responsibilities on three continents, including roles in the United States, Russia, Venezuela and Ecuador. Most recently, she served as Occidental’s President and Chief Operating Officer, overseeing the company’s oil and gas, chemical and midstream operations.

Ms. Hollub previously was Senior Executive Vice President, Occidental, and President, Oxy Oil and Gas, where she was responsible for operations in the U.S., the Middle East region and Latin America. Prior to that, she held a variety of leadership positions, including Executive Vice President, Occidental, and President, Oxy Oil and Gas, Americas; Vice President, Occidental, and Executive Vice President, U.S. Operations, Oxy Oil and Gas; Executive Vice President, California Operations; and President and General Manager of the company’s Permian Basin operations. Ms. Hollub started her career at Cities Service, which was acquired by Occidental.

Ms. Hollub serves on the boards of the American Petroleum Institute and Lockheed Martin. She is the chair of the U.S. Secretary of Energy Advisory Board and the U.S. chair for the U.S.-Colombia Business Council. Ms. Hollub is also a member of the Oil and Gas Climate Initiative and the World Economic Forum, where she serves on the stewardship board for the Platform for Shaping the Future of Energy and Materials. A graduate of the University of Alabama, Ms. Hollub holds a Bachelor of Science in Mineral Engineering. She was inducted into the University of Alabama College of Engineering 2016 class of Distinguished Engineering Fellows.

As a NASA Space Grant Fellow, Bob received his PhD in Earth & Planetary Sciences from Washington University – St. Louis. He received his MBA from Rice University in Houston. He also holds a BS in Geophysics and a BA in Astronomy from the University of Texas.

The Real Global Energy Transition: From Poverty to Prosperity

Scott Tinker works to bring industry, government, academia, and nongovernmental organizations together to address major societal challenges in energy, the environment, and the economy. Dr. Tinker is Director of the 250-person Bureau of Economic Geology, the State Geologist of Texas, and a professor holding the Edwin Allday Endowed Chair in the Jackson School of Geosciences at The University of Texas at Austin. With Director Harry Lynch, Tinker coproduced and is featured in the award-winning energy documentary film Switch, which has been screened in over 50 countries to more than 15 million viewers and is used on thousands of K-through-12 and college campuses. Dr. Tinker formed the nonprofit Switch Energy Alliance in 2016 and has completed two new films: Switch On, a feature length documentary addressing global energy poverty, and Energy Makes our World, a five-minute, Hollywood-quality film made for global museums and giant screens. Tinker is the voice of EarthDate, a two-minute weekly program that focuses on remarkable stories of Earth. EarthDate is produced by the Bureau of Economic Geology and is featured on over 400 NPR and public radio stations in all 50 United States. Dr. Tinker has served as president of several associations, including the American Geosciences Institute (AGI), the Association of American State Geologists (AASG), the American Association of Petroleum Geologists (AAPG), and the Gulf Coast Association of Geological Societies (GCAGS). Dr. Tinker is an AGI Campbell Medalist, AAPG Halbouty Medalist, GCAGS Boyd Medalist, and a Geological Society of America Fellow. In his visits to some 65 countries, he has given over 850 keynote and invited lectures.

Jeremy Sweek is co-founder and Managing Partner of Darcy Partners, a membership platform where the energy industry collaborates on its toughest technology challenges. The company was founded in 2015, and currently has four service lines spanning E&P, Sustainability, Energy Transition, and Power. Most recently, Jeremy led the firm’s transition into a Software-as-a-Service (SaaS) delivery model with the development of its cloud application, Darcy Connect; since its inception in late 2019, Darcy Connect serves over 7,000 users from 100+ E&P and Power/Utility customers globally. Before Darcy Partners, Jeremy worked in venture capital where he met his co-founder, Hossein Rokhsari. Their time together investing in early-stage energy technology companies, and working closely with startup founders, motivated them to define a new business model to better align incentives between emerging technology providers and end-users to de-risk and accelerate innovation in the energy industry. Prior to investing, Jeremy worked in corporate finance and planning at Occidental Petroleum where he supported its asset development teams on decision analysis and project economics. Before Oxy, he began his career as a consultant at Deloitte, serving clients across the energy sector including upstream, midstream, downstream and power verticals. Jeremy received his B.B.A. and M.S.A from Southern Methodist University in Dallas, Texas.
