E&P staff displacement, growth of the Energy Transition, turbulence in energy markets, and continued dynamics in the Energy Tech marketplace all converge to provide potential opportunities in Energy Tech entrepreneurship. A diverse set of panels and speakers will address the potential, as well as the challenges, for budding entrepreneurs in this space.

Being Efficient with Data in an Entrepreneurial Energy Startup

Dr. Burke is Chief Technology Officer for Denver-based Transitional Energy. Ben has worked as an exploration and development geologist for HighPoint Resources, Fifth Creek Enregy, Noble Energy, ExxonMobil, and others. He serves or has served as a board member for the Rocky Mountain Association of Geologists and the Denver Earth Resource Library. Ben has a PhD in Earth Science from Dartmouth, an MBA from Texas A&M, and a BA in Geology and Russian from Bowdoin College.

Principal, Free Radical Ventures
A Candid Perspective on Energy Tech Entrepreneurship

Jim is Principal of Free Radical Ventures and Managing Member of Catamount Exploration, both in Denver. He was co-founder and Managing Member of Pronghorn Operating, and has served as an exploration geophysicist for Shell Oil, Cody Energy, and Resource Solutions. Jim has a BS in Geophysical Engineering from the Colorado School of Mines.

Partner, Altria Group

Sean is a partner with energy technology VC firm Altira Group in Denver, through which he serves or has served a Director for seven firms. Pror to that he was a Principal in the Energy Practice at Booz and Company and CEO of an energy tech startup. Sean has an MBA and a BSCE Engineering, both from the University of Texas at Austin.

Steve is President and CEO of Edge Energy in Golden, CO. Prior to that he was President and CEO of BBH Operating, President, COO and CFO of Ellora Energy, Analyst and Head of Research of Petrie, Parkman & Co., and served varrious roles with ARCO. Steve has an MBA from UCLA and a BS Petroleum Engineering from the Colorado School of Mines.

David is founder and Managing Partner of Denver-based Ascent Energy Ventures. Prior to that he served in roles including Director of Investments for Sourcerock Partners, Director of Treasury for Marmik Oil, and Portfolio Manager of Black Sheep Capital. David has a BS in Finance from the University of Colorado, Boulder.

Peter is founder and President of Denver-based Ubiterra Corporation. Prior to that he founded, serves as President for, and successfully exited Parallel Geosciences, Reflection Software, and Oildex. Peter began his career with Amoco. He has an MS and BS in Geophysics from teh university of Arizona.

Chief Data Officer, Geolumina

Steve is Chief Data Officer in the Denver area with virtually located startup Geolumina. He gained extensive international exploration leadership seasoning with multiple oil companies, including Repsol, Oxy, and Kerr-McGee, after starting his carer with Tenneco. Steve has degrees in Biology from the University of Colorado and Geology from the University of South Florida.

Charlie is founder and President of Denver-based Conduit Resources. He was Director of GG&E Data and Applications for Forest Oil and supported the GIS effort at EnCana. Charlie has a Masters in Geographic Informaton Science from the University of Denver and a BS in Geology from Souhern Oregon University.

Jacinda Brown
Chief Geologist, Roxy Energy

Jacinda is founder and Chief Geologist / Business Development of Denver-based Roxy Energy, through which she pursues play development, bitcoin mining, and other crypto pursuits. She has significant Rockies geology seasoning with E&P firms including HRM Resources III, Mustang Resources, Caerus O&G, and Resolute Energy. Jacinda has a BA in Geology from the University of North Carolina at Wilmington.

Director of Finance, Namaste Solar

Michael is Director of Finance with Boulder-based Namaste Solar. He has held technical, operational, and executive leadership roles at E&P and oilfield service companies in the US, UK and West Africa. He also spent nearly a decade on Wall Street as a long/short energy equity analyst. Michael earned an MBA from The Wharton School and a BS in Mechanical Engineering from Rice University. He is an advisor to Colorado Sake Company and serves on the finance committee at The Logan School.

Aryn is CEO of Jupiter Gold in Denver. She has E&P seasoning in operations, geochemistry, and other disciplines with Highpoint Resources, Fifth Creek Energy, and BP, and mineral A&D seasoning with multiple firms. Aryn has a BS in Geology from the South Dakota School of Mines and Technology.
