Dr. Jeremy Boak is Geoscience Discipline Manager of Petrolern LLC. Prior to joining Petrolern he was the Director of the Oklahoma Geological Survey and State Geologist of Oklahoma, where he directed a team of 40 scientific, technical, administrative and core repository cu-ratorial staff. He represented the State Survey to University and State agencies, companies, and the public during a time of increased seismic activity engendered by oil and gas operations.
Before going to Oklahoma, he was Director of the Center for Oil Shale Technology and Research at the Colorado School of Mines and Chair of the Oil Shale Symposia for ten years. He directed research in rock physics, rock mechanics, geology, stratigraphy, sedimentology, database development and tech¬nical support for oil shale especially of the Green River Formation.
Dr. Boak worked at Los Alamos National Laboratory as a project manager in environmental management, pollution prevention and nuclear materials disposition and at the U. S. Department of Energy (DOE) Yucca Mountain Project as the Technical Analysis Branch Chief, where he led a risk assessment team from five national laboratories to define expected performance of a proposed site for disposal of spent nuclear fuel and high-level nuclear waste.
He also worked as an exploration geologist at ARCO Inc., conducting mapping and cross-section preparation for geologic & stratigraphic interpretation for an integrated equity study of the Long Beach Unit of the Wilmington Field. He evaluated exploration, extension, and development potential of ARCO leases in multi-reservoir Texas and Oklahoma panhandle fields, and evaluated regional geology, geochemistry and petroleum prospects, and participated in well-site duty and two seasons of fieldwork in NW Alaska.
Boak has a B.A., M. S., and Ph. D. from Harvard University, and an M.S. from the University of Washington, all in Geological Sciences.
