Sarah Saltzer is a Reserves Consultant at Chevron

Sarah joined Chevron in La Habra, CA in 1992 as a structural geologist. She moved to Calgary where she oversaw drilling in British Columbia, was involved with first oil from Hibernia, Hebron pre-development activities, and chaired a multi-company consortium for oil exploration on the East Coast of Canada. She then expanded outside of her academic training first as a petroleum engineer while working Congo-Brazzaville, and then as a planning analyst.  Next she moved into Chevron’s Corporate Strategic Planning group where she expanded Chevron’s analysis of the competition and regularly presented to company executives.  She returned to Chevron’s technology company in 2007 where she oversaw a team of 21 project leaders and staff responsible for the technical evaluation of company-impact (e.g. 2 Billion Barrel Oil Equivalent opportunities) exploration projects for the Corporation and reviewed work products to ensure quality and correct assessment of exploration risk and potential resource base.

A native of Massachusetts, Sarah received her B.S. and M.S. degrees in Geology from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology in 1986.  After selling her Master’s thesis software to Mobil and working as a geologist on the Yucca Mountain High Level Nuclear waste project in Las Vegas, NV, she received her Ph.D. in Geology from Stanford University in 1992.
