Dr. Bjorn Wygrala is a global Petroleum Systems Advisor with Schlumberger. He has 35 years of experience in the petroleum E&P industry, and his specific expertise is in basin and petroleum systems analysis and the application of simulation technologies for exploration risk and resource assessments. He was educated in Australia and Germany, his Geology Diploma (equivalent to MSc) was acquired at the University of Cologne and he completed a PhD thesis in a joint project with the KFA Research Centre in Germany and Eni/Agip in Italy. He has worked with clients in more than 50 countries, recently as Project Advisor for the Indian National Oil Company ONGC to perform a complete assessment of the Yet-to-Find (YTF) petroleum resources in all 26 basins in India. He is particularly interested in education activities, and his current interests include the development of capacity building programs to enable National Oil Companies and Regulatory Authorities to improve their abilities to assess and manage the potential of their petroleum resources.
