Alex J. MacNeil completed his Ph.D. at the U. of Alberta (2006) on the stratigraphy and sedimentology of the Alexandra Formation in the NWT and has lead six field trips to the region. His M.Sc. was on the diagenesis and dolomitization of Pliocene carbonates in the Cayman Islands. He has worked in industry since 2006, having spent most of his time at Imperial Oil (ExxonMobil affiliate) where he worked on a variety of exploration and production projects. Alex left Imperial in 2012 to join Osum Oil Sands where he is responsible for a number of carbonate reservoir characterization projects that include aspects of petrophysical evaluation, fracture characterization, geological modeling, and analogue studies. Alex has published on a variety of carbonate topics, sits on the Editorial Board for the Journal of Marine and Petroleum Geology and Bulletin of Canadian Petroleum Geology, and has been an AAPG member for fifteen years.
