Jessie Holland is a wellsite geologist and has worked the past 6 years in Pennsylvania, Texas and currently in Alaska. She received her undergraduate degree in Astrobiology from Ohio University. She then took two years off to work and travel before beginning a geology master’s degree. Jessie completed her M.S. in 2009, and worked in the Marcellus Shale in north central PA, transferring to the Eagle Ford in SE Texas two years later. In July, 2014, she became a contractor for BP Alaska on the North Slope. Jessie is currently working on a 3 million pound three module mobile rig that drives itself to different well locations to drill for multiple oil targets. The weather is brutal, the geosteering is challenging . . . and she is the only woman working on the rig with 39 men. Jessie is active in AAPG is currently the Chair of the Career Services Committee.
