Imre Szilágyi is an exploration geologist and petroleum economist with 18 years of oil business management experience. He currently works as independent consultant and third party instructor to E&P professional competency development and training companies. His expertise includes play-based exploration, prospect and reserve evaluation, exploration economics, risk and uncertainty evaluation and exploration project portfolio management.

Between 1999 and 2017 Szilágyi filled various senior management and advisory positions with the E&P Division of MOL Hungarian Oil and Gas Plc. Prior to joining the petroleum industry in 1999, he had been working in mineral prospecting and the GIS businesses. Between 2006 and 2009 he worked in Oman as managing director of MOL’s local operating company.

Szilágyi holds a master’s degree in geology from Eötvös Loránd University, Budapest and an MBA (finances) from the Budapest University of Technology and Economics.

As a volunteer, he teaches petroleum geology, petroleum systems analyses and petroleum resources management full semester courses at the Department of Geology, Eötvös Loránd University. In 2015 Szilágyi was elected to Honorary Associate Professor at the Faculty of Earth Science and Engineering, Miskolc University.
