Python Coding and Petroleum

25-27 August 2020
  |
Virtual Event

Who Should Attend

Anyone who knows little to nothing about Python and wants to learn how to get started solving some of their own problems with programming.

Objectives

Develop a Tool Kit with Python for Boosting Reserves and Recovery Using Analytics

You will learn about Python and its powerful api's used by geoscientists, engineers and even data scientists or data engineers. We will work through writing code for typical workflows you perform daily as a geoscientist or an engineer to solve a particular oil and gas problem(s).

Course Content

Course will be held via Zoom: 25–27 August 2020, 8:00 am–11:00 am (CDT)

This hands-on coding and app workshop will feature programming in Python and the use of platforms and software packages that are available either open-source, or free (or almost free), and it could include some trial licenses.

Python is currently one of the fastest growing programming languages and for good reason. It does a fantastic job of wrangling data but most importantly it’s fantastically easy to understand and use. In this workshop, we’ll take a look at a series of open-source modules and APIs as well as some examples of how we can use them effectively.

Why This Course Stands Out:

A special effort will be taken on delivering use cases and fully functional projects for geological and petroleum-based data.

Course Outline:
  1. Introduction to Python
  2. Jupyter Notebooks
  3. Visualizing Data
  4. Connecting to Data Sources and Data Manipulation
  5. Cookbooks and other Use Cases
  6. Delivering Your Data
