Maria Angela Capello is a renowned leader and author in the energy sector, expert in sustainability, corporate resilience, diversity and inclusion, and resources management. She is currently consulting for organizations in Latin-America and the United States to create and propel their corporate sustainability strategies

Capello is co-chair of the United Nations UNECE Committee for Women in Resource Management, industry ambassador for the University of Houston’s Consortium AIM-DEEP and senior partner of Red Tree Consulting – a boutique consulting firm centered on advancing sustainability. She is the lead author of two books: Mentoring and Sponsoring - Keys to Success (2020) and Learned in the Trenches: Insights into Leadership and Resilience (2018). She was the first woman to supervise seismic crews in the jungles of Venezuela, to advance a global career with leading roles in Kuwait Oil Company, Halliburton and PDVSA. Capello was honored with Cavaliere dell'Ordine della Stella d'Italia (Knight of the Order of the Star of Italy), the highest civil honor conferred by the president of Italy, “for her outstanding career in the energy and hydrocarbons sectors.” She is an Honorary member of the Society of Petroleum Engineers (SPE), which is the top individual award of the SPE, and serves on the Board of Directors of the Society of Exploration Geophysicists (SEG). She is a physicist who earned her bachelor’s degree from the Universidad Simon Bolivar (Venezuela), her master’s from the Colorado School of Mines (United States) and she is certified in Sustainability Management by the University of Cambridge. Her passion is to propel women and young professionals into leadership and sustainability.
