Larry Garmezy discovered his passion for geology as an undergraduate at Amherst College in Massachusetts. After graduating in 1976, he went on to graduate school at Pennsylvania State University where he received his M.S and Ph.D, focusing on structural geology. While carrying out his graduate studies, he was supported by the USGS, branch of Central Minerals Resources out of Denver, Colorado. Upon graduation, Larry moved to Houston to join the Global Geology Group at Shell’s Bellaire Research Center. Over 32 years he has held numerous positions mostly in international exploration. Over the past 15 years he has focused on Basin and Play Analysis becoming a Global Exploration Advisor for Shell, for both conventional and unconventional exploration.
