History
The Robert H. Dott, Sr. Award was created by Executive Committee action to honor and reward authors of original articles dealing with petroleum geology published by the Association. The first award was made in 1945. In 1980, the award was expanded to recognize both the best Bulletin article and the best Special Publication. In 1982 it was changed to apply only to the best Special Publication. In 1988 the name was changed from the President’s Award to the Robert H. Dott, Sr. Memorial Award.
Funding
Funding for the award is provided through the AAPG Foundation Awards Fund through generous contributions from Robert H. Dott’s many colleagues, friends and family as a lasting memorial.
