Nick Nelson

Nick Nelson is a currently a Horizontal Drilling Specialist with Samson Resources in Denver, Colorado.  He has experience with operations and exploration in nearly every Rocky Mountain Basin. Nick has held positions in several aspects of the oil and gas industry including being a SEM Engineer in a rock analysis laboratory all the way to working in the field as a GeoSteerer/Mudlogger. 

After receiving his Bachelor of Science degree in geology from Fort Lewis College in Durango, Colorado, Nick began his career working in the field, but eventually moved to Denver and has been there ever since. Nick is currently working towards his Masters of Science degree from Colorado School of Mines in Golden, Colorado. In his free time, Nick likes to camp and hike, and spends quite a bit of time exploring for new and interesting outcrops.

The overall goal of the AAPG Young Professionals Committee is to assist geologists that are new to the workforce or even those considering joining the oil and gas industry.
