Meet Xavier Moonan, 2019 Candidate for AAPG Secretary

Within each Region and Section there are many untold success stories. I have witnessed the impact that good mentors have on upcoming geoscientists, captivating their minds and encouraging the forward push for our industry, the embracing of new technologies and the sharing of best practices.

Given the opportunity to serve, I wish to push the AAPG to be more than a global network of geoscientists, more than a global platform for sharing ideas and more than an annual convention. I wish to re-establish that pioneering spirit, encourage the disruptive argument and embrace new technologies and emerging alternatives or unconventionals.

I have been able to make a positive impact within my Region, and as such I believe I have what it takes to make a global impact. I am fueled by passion for geoscience, an inner energy that gets even the most daunting tasks done – and I believe that such passion can be contagious when harnessed effectively.

The role as AAPG secretary will allow me the opportunity to test that theory.
