There are several reasons why I am accepting the invitation to be a candidate for an AAPG office:

  • A passion for the field of geology and a belief in the mission and goals of AAPG.
  • A desire to give back to the organization and contribute to the geoscience profession.
  • An interest in shaping the direction of the organization and helping to advance the profession.
  • A desire to improve communication and collaboration between AAPG and all members in different Regions.
  • A belief that my skills, knowledge and experience will align well with the responsibilities of the role, and that they can effectively serve the organization and all members.
  • A desire for professional development and networking opportunities that come with serving in AAPG office.
  • A belief to deliver positive impact by addressing specific issues and concerns of members in all Regions, in the current condition and in the future.

The future of AAPG will be facing changes in the industry, advances in technology and shifts in global energy markets. By accepting this invitation, I hope to serve more contributions for AAPG in the future, and empowering members to face a new world order with AAPG Core Values as follows:

  • Adaptability – AAPG has a long history of adapting to changes in the industry and will likely continue to do so. The organization already has started to diversify its membership and explore new areas, such as renewables and unconventional resources.
  • Innovations – The geoscience industry is constantly evolving, with new technologies and techniques being developed all the time. AAPG will continue to be a platform where members can share knowledge, learn about new developments and help us to stay competitive and relevant.
  • Networking and Professional Development – AAPG provides opportunities for members to advance our skills, knowledge and careers. AAPG will continue to provide networking opportunities and professional development resources to ensure that members are well-prepared for the future.
  • Advocacy – AAPG will continue to advocate for policies and regulations that support energy industry, while also taking into account the concerns of the environment.
  • Global Reach – AAPG will continue to expand its reach and impact on a global scale. By engaging with international geoscientists, the organization can create new opportunities for collaboration, networking and knowledge sharing.
  • Virtual engagement – With the current global situation after COVID-19, AAPG will continue to provide virtual engagement opportunities, such as webinars, virtual meetings and digital events, to ensure that members can stay connected and informed.

I believe that AAPG will have a brighter future ahead as long as it continues to adapt and provide values to all members through professional development, networking and advocacy. I am enthusiastic and excited to elaborate my experience, skills and perspective to align effectively as valuable assets to the organization.

I believe that by accepting this opportunity, I can better serve the interests of members in all of the Regions and can make a significant impact to the organization and the geoscience profession.
