For DPA Certification

Requirements to Sponsor: Sponsors shall be either a Certified Petroleum Geologist or Certified Petroleum Geophysicist unless such sponsors are unavailable to the applicant. Applicants are encouraged to make every effort to secure certified sponsors. Only when Division of Professional Affairs (“DPA”) member sponsors are unavailable, the applicant may be sponsored by noncertified AAPG active members having training and experience equivalent to the membership requirements for the DPA.

Sponsors shall not be employees or subordinates of the applicant.

Instructions to Sponsor: The applicant has provided his or her resume for your review. It is your responsibility to provide complete and meaningful information to assist the Board of Certification in deciding on the applicant’s eligibility for Certification. You should not agree to sponsor the applicant unless you have known the applicant for at least one year and can attest to applicant’s experience. Sponsors may be required to answer additional questions bearing upon the applicant’s qualifications and should not agree to sponsor unless willing to supply such information.
