Hosted by AAPG Women’s Network

Register now for "Use of Geochemical Applications in the Petroleum Geologist's Toolkit". A geochemistry short course open to anyone interested in gaining an introduction to rock, oil, gas, and water geochemistry.

This AAPGWN geochemistry short course is open to anyone interested in gaining an introduction to rock, oil, gas, and water geochemistry. The goal is to provide participants with a basic knowledge of geochemistry and its key applications in the exploration, appraisal, and development of oil fields such as prospect generation, production allocation, economic evaluation, and field development planning. Geologists, geophysicists, and engineers will also be given sufficient understanding of geochemical data and terms so that when they encounter them in talks, publications, and projects they are working on they understand how the data and terms are used. Although the main emphasis will be on organic geochemistry, other geochemical techniques such as XRF will also be covered. Problem sets will be given for source rock, oil, and gas geochemical data sets in order to further enhance the participant’s understanding and application of geochemistry in the oil industry.
