Our first speaker will be Stephen Ehrenberg from Badley Ashton & Associates Ltd with his presentation:
The Etiology of Carbonate Porosity
Based on a long career of research and practice in petroleum reservoir geology, Dr. Steve will present a review of the various processes that interact to determine the wide variations in porosity found in the carbonate strata containing conventional petroleum reserves. Examples are selected mainly from the various cases he has investigated personally. This will hopefully be intelligible and interesting for the non-geologist as well as the specialist, and there will be ample opportunity for questions and discussion.
Steve Ehrenberg grew up in Los Angeles, where he attended Occidental College and then UCLA. He has worked in Shell's Bellaire Research Center (Houston, 1981-1985), Statoil (Stavanger & Harstad, 1985-2008), Panterra Geoconsultants (The Netherlands, 2008-2010), United Arab Emirates University (Al Ain), as Shell Chair in Carbonate Geosciences at Sultan Qaboos University (Muscat), and at The Petroleum Institute (Abu Dhabi). Since March 2020, he has been employed by Badley Ashton & Associates Ltd (UK). He has published 54 technical papers on various aspects of reservoir geoscience, as listed on the Google Scholar website.
