Andrea

Moscariello

 

Andrea holds a PhD in Earth Sciences from the University of Geneva where he was later appointed Full Professor and Head of the Geo-Energy / Reservoir Geology and Basin Analysis Group after ca. 18 years of career in Shell International E&P and later SGS upstream services. During those years, Andrea had several roles starting from well site and production geologist, global expert of clastic reservoirs to up to executive management positions.  Since his appointment at the University of Geneva, Andrea built a large multidisciplinary group working on a variety of aspects of sedimentary basins at different scale ranging from regional geophysical exploration to pore-scale characterisation. His group works on several national and international projects addressing both fundamental and applied research topics in close relationship with the Energy industry spanning from hydrocarbon, geothermal and CCS. Andrea holds positions on the board of consultancy firms in Europe and Africa and he is an active member of the executive committee of the AAPG Europe Region, Swiss Association of Energy Geoscientists, the Geneva Energy Forum and he is member of the Research Committee of the EAGE.

Andrea Moscariello studied Earth Sciences at the University of Turin and obtained a PhD from the University of Geneva in 1996.

From 1997 to 2008 he worked as geoscientist and international subsurface expert for Shell International in several projects on conventional and unconventional reservoirs in the Middle East, Africa, Asia, USA, South America and the North Sea.

From 2008-2010 it became first Geoscience Manager and Business and Technical Director of SGS Horizon (former Horizon EP) and then founder of Earth Resources BV, an independent consultancy firm active in the field of geo-energy exploration and production.

From 1998 to 2006 he has been Affiliate Lecturer at the Department of Geography of the University of Cambridge and since 2006 he has been part-time Associate Professor at the Technical University of Delft (The Netherlands) until 2011 when he became full professor at the Department of Earth Sciences, University of Geneva, in charge of the Geo-Energy / Reservoir Geology and Basin Analysis Group.

Andrea is a member of the AAPG (American Association of Petroleum Geologists) leadership team and the ECORD (European Consortium of Ocean Research Drilling) Council and expert for the United Nation ESCWA on energy matters. Andrea authored and co-authored more than 90 scientific publications and reports in peer reviewed international journals.
