The AAPG Low Resistivity Pay GTW took place from 7-8 October 2019 at the Sundus Rotana Hotel, Muscat, Oman. The workshop attracted 76 attendees from 20 different companies and 9 different countries.

The opening of the workshop which took place on 7 October morning included welcome remarks by Salim Mahrouqi, AAPG Middle East Past President (2017-2019) followed by an inaugural keynote speech delivered by Hisham Siyabi, Exploration Director, PDO and a technical keynote address by Edward Clerke, Principal Geoscientist, Reservoir Characterization Departments, Saudi Aramco on ‘Low Resistivity Geologic Context Leads to Low Resistivity Reserves’.

The two-day workshop also included 15 oral presentations, 5 poster presentations and 4 breakout sessions. The event was an opportunity for attendees to receive up-to-date knowledge on the different approaches for evaluating the complex low-resistivity and low-resistivity-contrast pay formation from the exposure to regional and global case studies and the state-of-the-art technologies being employed as part of the evaluation.

We would like to take this opportunity to express our most sincere gratitude to the committee members for their hard work and support. We would also like to thank our Platinum Sponsor, PDO and our Gold Sponsor Schlumberger for their generous contribution. And last but not least, thanks to all the presenters and attendees for their and commitment and for making this workshop possible. It has been a great pleasure to share this experience with you.
