AAPG’s Inspirational Geoscience Educator Award recognizes outstanding geoscience professors who inspire students to love geoscience and offer motivation and mentorship to students in their pursuit of geological careers.

This year’s award ceremony takes place in May 2018, at AAPG’s Annual Convention and Exhibition (ACE) held in Salt Lake City. The recipient of the IGEA Award is honored with a cash prize and a beautiful commemorative plaque acknowledging the achievement. The AAPG Foundation funds the award, and the Board of Trustees recently passed a decision to increase the award from previous years. The cash prize now totals $6,000.
