AAPG hosts successful workshop in Marrakech

 

AAPG Geotechnical Workshop, GTW investigating the Paleozoic hydrocarbon potential of North Africa was successfully held in the beautiful city of Marrakech, Morocco.

AAPG Geotechnical Workshop, GTW investigating the Paleozoic hydrocarbon potential of North Africa was successfully held in the beautiful city of Marrakech, Morocco. The workshop which was intended to provide participants with the opportunity to describe and discuss the Paleozoic petroleum system, the structural evolution of Paleozoic basins and their associated play types ran from 1-2 November 2017 at the Savoy LeGrand Hotel, Marrakech and featured 17 oral presentations.

Workshop Highlights included an inaugural keynote speech by Ms. Hosna Mustapi (Head of Hydrocarbons Exploration and Production Department at the Ministry of Energy and Mines Morocco), a presentation session led by Dr. William Bosworth (Apache Corporation) & Daniel Stockli (University of Texas at Austin).

The workshop was followed by a Field seminar to the Atlas and Anti-Atlas of Marrakech and Ouarzazate, Morocco which had 18 participants from various nationalities.
