Summer Internship for Minorities in the Geosciences – Deadline: Friday, Feb. 10th

 

The RESESS Internship Program is seeking applications from students from minority populations that are poorly represented in the geosciences (see our home page for our mission).

The RESESS Internship Program is seeking applications from students from minority populations that are poorly represented in the geosciences (see our home page for our mission).

Students have the opportunity to do research of their own in geology, structure, geophysics, sedimentology, hydrology, petroleum geology, geologic hazards, or other topics. We try to match projects to student interests.

Students also participate in a writing course with the help of a mentor, field trips, workshops, and activities with their peers. Students describe this opportunity as opening doors for them. At RESESS, we really take care of our interns.

Provided: travel, housing, salary (~$15/hour) for eleven weeks, partial academic scholarship in next academic year, support to attend a national conference next academic year.

Summer Dates, Location: May 22 to Aug. 6th in Boulder, Colorado.

Status: Must be a citizen or permanent resident of the U.S.

College level: Juniors and Sophomores can apply. Must have completed two years of college, and must have one semester remaining after the summer of 2011.

Eligible majors: Majors in geology, geophysics, hydrology, environmental engineering, math, physics, geophysics, physical geography or a closely related field may apply.
