One particular aim was to summarize what is understood today, and how this knowledge can be applied to the frontier basins of tomorrow.
The one-week conference in the Tuscan resort of Tirrenia involved three days of talks, workshops and poster sessions interspersed with 2 days of field trips to outcrops on the coast and in the nearby Apennines to examine analogues for deep water successions and their involvement in thrust systems.
