Deepwater Fold and Thrust Belts

A conference offering the opportunity to discuss industry and academic issues (concepts, methodologies for exploration and production, and case studies) in a focused forum, with an aim of advancing the understanding of the main risks and opportunities in exploring and developing hydrocarbon resources in deepwater fold and thrust belts.

This conference offered the opportunity to discuss industry and academic issues (concepts, methodologies for exploration and production, and case studies) in a focused forum, with an aim of advancing the understanding of the main risks and opportunities in exploring and developing hydrocarbon resources in deepwater fold and thrust belts. One particular aim was to summarize what is understood today, and how this knowledge can be applied to the frontier basins of tomorrow.

The one-week conference in the Tuscan resort of Tirrenia involved three days of talks, workshops and poster sessions interspersed with 2 days of field trips to outcrops on the coast and in the nearby Apennines to examine analogues for deep water successions and their involvement in thrust systems.
