September is annual meeting month for four AAPG Sections
Because this final column by me is largely a report, it will be longer than usual; the Executive Committee (EC), indeed, has been very productive.
AAPG's six domestic Sections each hold annual meetings, offering technical programs, keynote speakers, award presentations and social-business activities that cater to regional interests.
Spring Student Expo had record attendance
The Way We Were: Oklahoma's Glenn Pool -- the state's first major oil field and the richest field the world had yet seen -- is about to celebrate a golden anniversary.
Let's make a deal: For today's exploration playmakers, the good times are back, with a very nice twist.
Energy industry companies and geoscience college students are invited to participate in the fifth annual AAPG/SEG Spring Student Expo, set March 10-12 at the Sarkeys Energy Center at the University of Oklahoma in Norman, Okla.
This year's Expo will again feature formal interviews with energy industry representatives, a poster contest for students (with cash prizes), company exhibits and numerous network opportunities.
A new fund has been established by the AAPG Foundation to honor the late Paul McDaniel, a geologist who was known for his entrepreneurial skills and vision in the development of digital representation of geological and geophysical data.
AAPG's Distinguished Lecture program will have three speakers on tour in October, including some U.S. and Canadian talks by this year's AAPG-SEG speaker.
