Smith Geological Society and the University of Arkansas Geosciences Department, and will be based in Fayetteville, Ark. AAPG’s Mid-Continent Section was established in 1965 and comprises nine geological societies or associations located within the U.S. mid-continent states: Oklahoma, Kansas, Missouri, Nebraska, Iowa, the Texas Panhandle and the northwest two-thirds of Arkansas. The Section is bound together both geographically and geologically by mostly being a province with oil and gas production, primarily derived from Permian through Ordovician age reservoirs.
