High-resolution stratigraphy and facies architecture of the Upper Cretaceous (Cenomanian–Turonian) Eagle Ford Group, Central Texas

This study uses core and outcrop data to deﬁne the Eagle Ford lithofacies in the Austin, Texas area. Facies variability is a signiﬁcant aspect of the Eagle Ford system and has implications for source rock quality, seal capacity, reservoir characterization, and hydraulic fracture potential.

United States Government Funding for Research and Development

It is time for the debate to start on the FY 2017 appropriations, covering the period from October 1, 2016 through September 30, 2017. For FY 2017 the President proposes $152.3 billion for R&D, an increase of $6.2 billion, $4 billion of which will be mandatory spending. Mandatory spending is rarely used to fund R&D. It is not subject to budget caps but requires separate legislation and is subject to the pay-as-you-go rules — spending must be offset by cuts, or deficit neutral.
