NOPEC Proposal Gets New Steam

Saudi Arabia is reportedly considering a move away from the U.S. dollar in pricing its international crude shipments. That sounds like surprising news, but it’s actually part of a story that’s played out for almost 20 years. Now this story has a new twist. Actually, several twists. The issue is NOPEC, the No Oil Producing and Exporting Cartels Act – proposed legislation that has kicked around the U.S. Congress for a couple of decades.

Biochronology, paleoenvironments, and stratigraphic sequences of the late Albian–middle Eocene fore-arc Vizcaino basin, western Baja California, Mexico

The Vizcaino fore-arc basin accumulated approximately 4 km (∼13,000 ft) of upper Albian–middle Eocene siliciclastic marine sedimentary rocks derived from the Peninsular Ranges in Baja California. Data from eight exploratory wells document the micropaleontological content and lithological characteristics of these rocks.
