Workshop
Beijing, China
Friday, 26 October Sunday, 28 October 2018, 8:00 a.m.–5:00 p.m.

The global oil and gas industry is currently exploring new frontiers including unconventional resources, deep water offshore and deep to ultra-deep strata onshore. These represent a strategic shift in hydrocarbon exploration. Join AAPG and the Chinese Petroleum Society (CPS) for a 3-day geotechnical workshop (GTW) on “Deep and ultra-deep petroleum systems (DuDPS): What we know and don’t know”. The workshop will provide a platform for scientific exchange and technical discussion on recent development in DuDPS and to hold a panel discussion on key issues, research directions and challenges facing the petroleum industry in exploring DuDPS.

Workshop
Bangkok, Thailand
Thursday, 27 September Friday, 28 September 2018, 8:00 a.m.–5:00 p.m.

The upstream oil and gas business has two primary functions; the front-end loaded exploration phase and the development-focused harvest-mode which results in actual hydrocarbon production and revenue generation. Both of these processes require extensive geoscience input but the scope, techniques and time involved are quite different. This two-day workshop will focus on these two siblings; the first day will focus on mature field development and the second day will highlight exploration potential within the Asia Pacific region.

Friday, 28 April Sunday, 30 April 2017, 8:00 a.m.–11:59 p.m.

This conference aims to stimulate new ideas and joint industry-academic ventures that can accelerate the exploration and development of shale oil resources in mature petroleum source kitchens in petroliferous basins. Such further advances are likely to be among some of the most significant developments for the oil and gas industry in the next decade as conventional petroleum traps become depleted, while unconventional resources –show continual improvement in productivity, but are inefficient in recovery factors. The conference will provide a venue for both industry and academic geoscientists to increase awareness of the needs and interests of each party and focusing on emerging concepts, novel technologies, and global case studies.

Industry Meeting
Yangon, Myanmar
Wednesday, 22 February Friday, 24 February 2017, 7:00 a.m.–8:00 p.m.

Following hugely successful events in in 2014 & 2015, AAPG, EAGE & Myanmar Geosciences Society (MGS) are pleased to announce the third Myanmar Oil & Gas Conference. The event is scheduled to take place in Yangon, from 22-24 February 2017. The three societies are very pleased to work together and bring a quality geoscience event to this rather underexplored country which, in the challenging times of low oil prices, has remained a global hotspot of activity with wells being drilled and seismic being shot.

The conference started with a broad general thematic session to capture thoughts from leading scientists on the nature and character of the global Lower Paleozoic and Precambrian petroleum systems, similarities and general problems. This was followed by sessions dealing with the fundamental elements of petroleum systems in Australia, North America, North Africa, Middle East, Europe and Asia, and the uniqueness of these older systems, and conclude with a session on the technology advances and needs, and with a session on selected case studies.
