Hedberg Research Conferences

From time to time the AAPG Research Committee selects a topic for critical examination. They will invite scientists from various disciplines (geology, geophysics, reservoir engineering, etc.) to discuss state-of-the-art concepts, methodologies, case histories, and future directions relating to this subject. The conference are held in informal settings with a maximum of 80-100 attendees.

A three-day meeting with single-session oral and poster presentations with emphasis was on invited speakers. Oral “overview” presentations with most of the detailed papers presented as posters. Keynote talks each morning, and posters presented in the early afternoon.

A three day AAPG Hedberg conference of oral presentations with additional abstracts accommodated through poster sessions. A two-day field trip will be run after the meeting. The Austral Foreland Basin has magnificent outcrops of Tertiary hyperpycnal deposits exposed along kilometers of marine cliffs located in the northeast coast of Tierra del Fuego. The high quality exposures of hyperpycnal channels, channel-levee transitions and lobes will promote a very constructive discussion and critcism among the attendees.

A follow up to the May, 1994 Hedberg on Near Surface Expressions of Hydrocarbon Migration Purpose: Critically examine migration mechanisms responsible for movement of micro- and macro-seepage as well as active versus passive seepage.
