A contest for best non-technical article written by a YP was held as a part of 2016 GEO Young Professionals and Students program of activities. We would like to take this opportunity and recognize the efforts of the YPS Support Committee, who reviewed and scored each item received. Hereunder we are happy to share with you the winning post.

AAPG's Imperial Barrel Award (IBA) Program is an annual prospective basin evaluation contest for geoscience students from universities around the globe. The participants analyze geological, geophysical, land, economic and production data in a real world scenario. The IBA regional and section competition winners qualify to compete against each other in the international finals during the Annual Convention & Exhibition (ACE), taking place in the USA, for a chance to win scholarship funds for their school.
The workshop will be dedicated to capturing best practices and lessons learned in the field of knowledge management, especially in the context of a changing oil market. This two-day event will consist of oral presentations, poster presentations, panel discussions and breakout sessions where participants can investigate a specific theme that is of mutual interest. The AAPG Middle East GTW Exploring Mature Basins is a three-day workshop that begins 11 April 2016 in Bahrain. This workshop will feature a field trip to the Awali Field south of Manama.
