The structurally constrained properties of a coalbed methane reservoir from the Qinshui Basin in northern China have been investigated using a coal structure index. This index is proposed as a new quantified approach for the evaluation of the coal deformation degree.

The lower Permian Qixia Formation in northwestern Sichuan Basin formed by differential eogenetic karstification and hydrothermal dissolution of grain dolomites. This study provides an improved understanding of the origins and complexity of dolomite reservoirs formed by dissolution.

Initiation processes for gravity flows may differ, and present unique sandstone distribution and paleogeography. In the Dongying sag, eastern China, gravity flow deposits were caused by both delta-fed sediment failure and flooding river-fed hyperpycnal flows. The latter are better reservoirs.

Systematic experiments were conducted to analyze pore structure, wettability, and methane adsorption capacity of Longmaxi Formation shale samples from the southern Sichuan Basin. Results revealed that pore structure significantly affects wettability and methane adsorption capacity of the Longmaxi shale.
