Catherine “Cat” Campbell
Rocky Mountain Section Lead
Cat is currently working for Robert L. Bayless, Producer located in Denver, Colorado as an exploration geologist. She joined this small family company after four years with Encana where she worked Rockies tight gas sand and shale gas development.
Cat holds a BA in Environmental Studies from Connecticut College and an MS in Geology from the University of Wyoming. Her interest in petroleum peaked after competing in the first international Imperial Barrel Award Competition held in 2007. Since then, she has tried to encourage other students to pursue this path by being a committee member and chairing the RMS IBA committee from 2008 to 2012. Beyond the IBA, Cat also chairs the Rocky Mountain Association of Geologists NeoGeo committee and volunteers with several other local organizations.
Outside of geology, Cat can be found in the mountains during all of her free time, exploring the backcountry of the west through backpacking, rock and ice climbing, and skiing. Currently, the RMS YPs are working to establish a committee to initiate networking events throughout the region and encourage YP involvement in the geological community.
