The outbreak of the H1N1 virus of swine origin has caused worldwide concern. This is a rapidly evolving situation and is being closely monitored by AAPG.
The safety and health of AAPG members is of top concern to the Association.
At this time, the U.S. Center of Disease Control (CDC) has NOT recommended that people avoid travel at this time, but has offered caution to travel to Mexico.
While it is important not to minimize the seriousness of the threat, AAPG feels it is critical to be prepared, but not panicked.
With any public situation, there is much good information, along with much misinformation available online. Accurate information is available from the CDC.
Until such time as changes are warranted, there are NO cancellations of AAPG field trips, meetings and other functions.
Meanwhile, AAPG urges members to heed the widely circulated hygiene guidelines to minimize the chances of contracting the flu. AAPG will update this statement as deemed necessary.
