This field trip was originally operated by Alan McGugan and Phil Simony, of the University of Calgary, and Richard Paull of the University of Wisconsin, Milwaukee. It was funded by the National Science Foundation for college teachers. The purpose of the field trip is to familiarize participants with the geology of the Canadian Rocky Mountains, and the overthrust belt. Not much later, the overthrust belt in the United States became a prime exploration target. These slides and accompanying explanations should help those unfamiliar with this area to better understand the types of geological deformation extant in this geological province. Text
