Continuing Construction and Destruction

Bored coral and shells. Boring organisms degrade carbonate shells rapidly. The conch shell at the upper right has been invaded by the boring sponge Cliona, other organisms reflect boring clams and worms. The two burrows in beach rock in the upper left are formed by Echinometra, the center coral slab has been bored by clams and worms (a partial clam shell can be seen in situ).
