The 2008 Technical Committee has developed a robust program that addresses major technical and practical issues involving unconventional plays, including shale gas, oil shale and coalbed methane, that are currently both challenging industry and energizing academic research.
We have also selected a wide array of conventional themes, including an expanded set of structural geology sessions, that have both direct and indirect impact on ongoing and emerging efforts to produce more hydrocarbons worldwide.
As a significant complement to the oral and poster sessions of the Technical Program, several forums are planned for the convention. This increasingly popular format is ideal for discussion of hot topics and emerging issues. Panels of experts and audience participation will highlight the forums, which include:
Your participation in the judging of papers and posters is requested! This important function determines the winners of the Matson Award, Braunstein Award, SEPM Best Paper and Best Poster Awards and Division awards. Your effort will involve judging and evaluating one or more oral or poster sessions. Stop by the Judges Room to pick up your packet of judging materials and enjoy a beverage and snack on your way to your session. Please mark your registration form to volunteer to be a judge at the 2008 convention.
