Teacher Program

AAPG invites K-12 science teachers to attend a geology field trip to Canyon Lake Gorge and to the dinosaur trackway at Heritage Museum of the Texas Hill Country. Professional development hours will be awarded for participation in this field trip.

Geology of Canyon Lake Gorge and Heritage Museum Dinosaur Tracks

This trip goes to the recently exposed fossiliferous, Cretaceous limestones in the Canyon Lake Gorge. Exposures of shell-bearing beds, dinosaur tracks and faults with structural deformation are viewed in the first half of the trip. A visit to the newly renovated Heritage Museum will show the tracks of an ancient dinosaur community.
