Imperial Barrel Award: University of Louisiana at Lafayette and the Gulf Coast Section. Presented by Mary Broussard at Houston Geological Society Legends Night in Houston, Texas on 19 January, 2015.

HGS hosted a dinner, January 19, honoring two university professors and Geology Department faculty advisors who have dedicated their time and energy to produce winning teams of the AAPG Imperial Barrel Award. AAPG thanks the Houston Geological Society for making these presentations available to the AAPG membership.  This program was made possible through the fund raising efforts of the HGS Legends Committee and its scholarship foundations.  Special recognition goes to John Tubb, Ashley Garcia, John Adamick, Jeff Lund, and Dick Bishop.

Mary Broussard is a geophysicist for Freeport McMoRan Oil & Gas (FMO&G) in Lafayette, Louisiana working numerous deepwater Gulf of Mexico properties in Green Canyon and Keathley Canyon.  Prior to joining FMO&G in 2007 she worked for Stone Energy and Marathon Oil Company. She has served as AAPG Advisory Council representative for the Gulf Coast Section, been co-chair of the Gulf Coast Section Imperial Barrel Award competition as well as a mentor for numerous years, served as the General Chair for the 2006 GCAGS convention, was President of the Lafayette Geological Society, and most recently served as President of the Gulf Coast Section. Mary also mentors students at the University of Louisiana at Lafayette and serves as chair of the UL Alumni Advisory Board. Mary received her BS degree in geology and geophysics from the University of Tulsa and her MS degree in geology from the University of Louisiana Lafayette.
