Recruitment Reward & Recognition Program

The goal of the Recruitment Reward and Recognition Program is to build and strengthen AAPG by increasing the Active membership and to recognize and reward the members who work toward this achievement.

How do I participate?

Participation is easy – just sign your name in the recruiter’s block on a Member application form and give it to a colleague who is not an AAPG Member. This includes recruiting of Associate members to transfer to Member and reinstatement of former Members. Download one of these forms or by contacting the Membership Department (1-800-364-2274) or direct your recruit to www.aapg.org/join/ where they will have access to the online applications.

Are there rewards?

First, there are the non-tangible rewards. That includes involving a colleague in the most important aspect of being a professional – joining the community of fellow professionals dedicated to the science of geology and the petroleum geology profession. That rewards both you and your new fellow AAPG member by furthering the profession and the science, and by expanding the professional aspect of your lives. It also helps to grow the association, which is a major player in creating and maintaining the reputation you enjoy as a petroleum explorationist. And, it helps keep your dues low.

Now, comes the fun part. This program also has some more tangible rewards as well.

What are they?

The rewards are beautiful one-of-a-kind mineral and fossil specimens such as fossil fish displayed on a brass stand, polished ammonites, petrified wood book ends, onyx bowls, amethyst geodes, megalodon shark tooth, etc. As an alternative, the member may request an AAPG Bookstore voucher of equal value.

Great. And the recognition?

Recognition of members who recruit new, reinstate or transfer to Members will be enhanced by service awards at various levels. These begin with modest tokens of appreciation such as a desk flag or lapel tac and increase appropriately as the number of new sign-ups increases. A Recognition page on the AAPG Web site will acknowledge the recruiters and the work they have done. AAPG also will promote recognition at the local level through the member’s society, section or region.

Why is the recognition important?

Because you, as a professional who is working on behalf of your profession and association DESERVE notice by your colleagues and a higher profile in the geoscience community for your efforts.

Is this a contest?

No. It is an on-going program allowing the recruiter to accumulate points for as long as they wish.

It is different from past recruiting efforts because credit will be given only for new, reinstate or transfer to Member applicants. The recruiter is given credit in both the Reward Program and the Recognition Program.

OK, how does it work?

Each new or reinstate to Member applicant will earn the recruiter one point and an applicant for transfer to Member earns one-half point.

Reward points can be cashed in after accumulating a minimum of five points which equates to a $35-$40 reward. Or, the recruiter may choose to continue building his account for a bigger/better reward.

For example, 25 points equates to a reward value of $185-$190. Recruiters’ progress can be tracked on the AAPG Web site. Once a reward is claimed, those points are deducted and member can begin to build up points again. Recognition points always increase as Members are recruited.
