Resources and Reserves Committee Chairman's Report

American Association of Petroleum Geologists (AAPG)

The DPA Resources and Reserves Committee continuesto work closely with JCORET (the Joint Committee onReserves Evaluator Training). As you may know, thecommittee consists of three members from each of thefollowing societies: AAPG, SPE, SPEE, and WPC. Thecurrent AAPG representation on JCORET is Dan Tearpock,John Coleman, and Samuel Mociotto.

The purpose of JCORET is to meet a recognizedneed for high quality, industry recognized trainingfrom individuals responsible for petroleum reservesand resources evaluation. There are three primaryareas of focus: 1) reserves and resources definitions; 2)recommended geological and engineering practices; and3) ethics training. JCORET members approve coursematerials submitted by course authors/instructors to beconsistent with JCORET requirements for such reserves orresources training.

JCORET now has an active website. The JCORET website iswww.JCORET.org. The website is hosted by the SPE. There is alink to the website on the DPA website home page. JCORET isconstantly soliciting additional targeted courses on reserves andresources.
