As membership chairman I have primarily been focused on asking AAPG Leadership to join DPA. Several have committed and I am working to get them to join as are many of the DPA councilors. The concept is once we have the leadership well covered then we can use them to entice their peers to join. In addition, we have been working with Charles Sternbach's Ad Hoc Committee to evaluate "growth engines" that will entice new members and revenues into DPA. One of these concepts is called the DPA Playbook and Scout Check. Also, we are looking at a model whereby DPA will be AAPG primary representative at NAPE. This will increase DPA's exposure and if we can prove value added then we can request a small percentage of revenue from the meeting. This revenue could be from $20K-$40K.
Table 1 below provides a summary of 5 year DPA membership trends. There has been a total net increase of 108 members over the 5 year period (a 4% increase). Table 2 below provides a breakdown of 2011/2012 membership by category. Note that 27 DPA members hold dual certifications; therefore the total number of DPA members is lower than the total of the individual certifications.
