November is starting as an unusually calm month in Washington, but numerous contentious issues may explode into the news at any time. Congress passed legislation to boost the debt ceiling and increase this year’s federal budget. However, additional congressional action on major issues is required in November and December. Meanwhile Congress and the Administration continue fighting over several recently released EPA regulations. One bright spot is that science policy groups are enjoying productive conversations with Congress about the importance of geoscience to our country.
