Learning is important—now more than ever. How do you equip yourself for changing times? How do you deepen and broaden your knowledge? Here is an informal place to find out what we’re doing, what we’re planning, and how we’re listening to you. Dr. Susan Nash, AAPG’s Director of Education and Professional Development, shares the new territory she’s introducing to AAPG with courses and dynamic new workshops. She is also planning more interactive, Web 2.0 offerings. So, give her your input about the best and worst of the wild and woolly world of webinars, Web-based training, and open courseware.

Here are our great upcoming E-Symposia!  Each e-symposium includes a one-hour "live" webinar, followed by a repository of journal articles, review questions, and access to the archived e-symposium.  If you happen to miss the "live" event, you can always gain access after the course is archived.

AAPG offers two short courses in conjunction with this year’s Unconventional Resources Technology Conference (URTeC). A wealth of information in a short period of time, theses short courses are an effective and efficient way to learn about the industry.

This forum is an intensive one-day review by experts of the latest findings regarding the productive extent and producibility in the Granite Wash of Oklahoma and Texas, along with Pennsylvanian sand-producing horizons.

This conference will provide an opportunity for attendees to share knowledge and identify differences in depositional processes, define how variability affects play elements, and define differences in stratigraphic models and sedimentary concepts.

Participants will examine illustrative outcrops of thrusts, fault-related folds, stratal architectures and facies of depositional systems affected by growing structures, which are good analogues for hydrocarbon reservoirs. Objectives include interpreting complex thrust structures, identifying and understanding strain and fracture systems in fold-thrust belts, and analyzing patterns of growth strata in areas with synsedimentary folding.

Get a first-hand look at the global nature of oil sand resources, a better understanding of advances in recovery processes, and what contributions resource geoscientists can make to the challenges of environmental protection and social license as well as driving prosperity and better standards of living for all through sustainable energy development.
