Jon Major received the AAPG Horst & Jessie von Bandat Memorial Grant in 2009 which has contributed to a soon-to-be published journal article.

The AAPG Foundation funding helped support Jon’s Masters thesis (completed at BYU in 2011), part of which is now being published in an international, peer-reviewed scientific journal, the Journal of Asian Earth Sciences.

Major has since moved on to the University of Texas at Austin, where he is a PhD candidate (pending final approval) in the Jackson School of Geological Sciences.

The article can already be accessed online here (currently “accepted, in press”). It should be completely processed soon and published officially with a date and issue.
