AAPG Oslo 2008 — AAPG European Region Conference
October 5-7, 2008
Oslo, Norway
Presenter Guidelines
The aim of the conference is to pose the question: After over 40 years of varied upstream activity in the North Sea petroleum province what are the key learnings to take forward in the future? What were the key success factors in the past? Will the same lead to success in the future? What changes, from technological to fiscal, need to be made to maintain activity and success in the region and what are the key challenges for the future?
As presenters prepare for their presentations they have been encouraged to include the following matter:
- Exploration history, identification (2D/3D/AVO etc.) and discovery of field.
- Metrics of the field – size (original estimate v. present day), production to date, remaining potential etc.
- Tectonic setting and geological field descriptions
- Metrics of play and ranking within play.
- Development and production plan
- Innovative technologies applied (horizontal drilling, 4D monitoring, EOR/IOR etc.) Key technologies for success at each stage
Presenters also have been requested to address the following questions:
- What have we learnt from this play and/or field that is best practice for the future?
- What were the critical success factors?
- Which technologies were critical to success?
- What technologies would have been useful in the past and will be relevant to this play in the future?
- What role can this play or field have in the future of North Sea E & P.?
The detail to which each study addresses each topic will be up to the discretion of the presenter. In advance we thank each presenter who has agreed to participate in the North Sea 2008 Conference.
