This session honors the late Ed Purdy for his milestone contributions to carbonate and petroleum Geoscience. Speakers, including Ginsburg, Gischler and Droxler, will describe Purdy's pioneering studies on modern carbonates of the Bahamas, Belize, and the Maldives. Others will deal with his contributions to the antecedent platform model, carbonate diagenesis and applications to petroleum geology. The session will include personal remembrances from friends and former students.
There will be ample time for friends and former colleagues to reminisce about this remarkable scientist.
