Ranking System
AAPG conferences have a reputation for delivering a comprehensive technical program. A ratings system ensures that the content is of the highest quality. Ranking of abstracts is done by selected reviewers from the Technical Program Committee contacts. Reviewers are specialists in applicable disciplines to assure general interest and global perspective. Evaluation criteria include technical quality, innovation, new studies and application to the theme. Oral and poster sessions are formed from this pool of highly ranked abstracts to ensure high technical quality across the entire program. Ranking is completed after abstracts submissions close.
Acceptance of Your Abstract
After abstracts have been scored and selected, authors receive notice of their acceptance into the program or rejection. Detailed information is sent to accepted Speakers and Poster Presenters with specific instructions regarding their event.
Awards/Judging
AAPG Awards are given each year in recognition of the best AAPG oral and poster presentations presented at the Annual Convention & Exhibition (ACE) and International Conference & Exhibition (ICE). AAPG’s Divisions (DEG, EMD and DPA) as well as SEPM (Society for Sedimentary Geology) also give awards for best oral and poster presentations at ACE. Presenters may sign up to judge an oral or poster session (other than their own).
Cancellations
If it becomes necessary to cancel a presentation for any reason, notify the Technical Programs Coordinator or fax: +1 918 560 2684.
Commercial Overtones Prohibited
Audiences are sensitive to commercial overtones and overuse of corporate logos in scientific presentations. Presenters are advised to employ the proper professionalism and discretion in these areas. Logos on posters are appropriate on title and summation graphics, and should not detract from the scientific message. Advertising and sales promotions in any form are strictly prohibited.
No-Show Policy
The AAPG Executive Committee has ruled that presenters who fail to show up for their scheduled presentations without previously notifying AAPG Headquarters of their cancellation at least five weeks in advance of the start of the program will not be allowed to present papers or posters at any AAPG-sponsored technical meeting for three years following the “no-show.”
Official Conference Language
The official language of an AAPG Conference or Convention is English.
